An absolutely stunning pendant from the late Victorian period, c1890s. The pendant is made from solid 18ct gold, which is marked on the back, and is a lovely large size. It is a beautiful swallow and is studded throughout with split pearls; these look to be all original. There is very minor evidence towards the tip of one wing on the back that this piece started life as something else, possibly a stick pin or brooch, though it has been converted expertly and this is not at all noticeable. A truly eye-catching statement piece.
