Rare French Souvenir Ring

sold out

A wonderful ring from the Victorian period. The ring is made from 18ct gold that has a gentle rose colour to it. It has the word ‘souvenir’ meaning ‘remember’ within a decorative panel at the top. The background of the word would have originally been solid black enamel, though this has worn over time. To the shoulders there are little shell designs, also highlighted in black enamel. The ring is very fine and has a flat, fine shank that is fairly worn. A true collectors piece for the French jewellery enthusiast, despite its well-loved condition.

This ring should be worn with care.

Details:

Materials - 18ct Gold (tested), Black Enamel

Age - Victorian (1837-1901)

Size - The panel measures approx 6.5mm by 9.5mm. The shank narrows to 1.8mm at the back

Ring Size - UK N 1/2 US 6 3/4 This ring would be difficult to resize due to a previous resizing that has left the shank a little out of line at the back. It could likely be done if required.

Condition - Fair. Damage to the black enamel. The back of the shank is very fine and a little warped; it should be worn with care.

Weight - 1.23g
