Victorian 15ct Enamel Detail Locket
A wonderful and unusual locket from the mid Victorian period, c1860s. The locket is made from solid 15ct gold and has the most beautiful repoussé style gold-work to the front. The design displays a decorative leaf design within cut out panels. These are highlighted by turquoise enamel and the effect is extremely effective. Inside, the locket had the original slips, one with the original glass and the other with a replacement perspex cover. The locket is a good size and looks wonderful on a short or long gold chain.
The chain pictured is for display only.
Details:
Materials - 15ct Gold (tested), Enamel
Age - Mid Victorian
Size - The locket measures approx 29.5mm excluding the bail, by 24.5mm wide.
Condition - Very good. There is a little scratch to the centre cartouche. This is visible, though it seems to be highlighted in the pictures and is not quite so obvious as this. There is a slight gold discolouration to the back, likely from past acid testing. This is not too obvious and of course, not visible when worn
Weight - 9.15g
