Victorian 15ct 'In Memory Of' Locket
A lovely locket from the Victorian period, c1880. The locket is made from 15ct gold and unusually for this karat, it has a more rosy tint. To the front is a wonderful black enamel buckle with the words ‘In Memory Of’ picked out in gold. The buckle came to symbolise fierce loyalty as once fastened, it becomes a continuous circle and creates unbreakable strength. This would have originally been a memorial piece and the buckle also represents the strength of the family and the love they have for each other. Now it can be given as a token of love or loyalty and has two frames inside that can be removed to place your own photos behind. The enamel is in lovely condition and overall, the locket is very pretty.
It will come on a 14kt gold fill chain similar to the one pictured.
