Victorian 18ct Gold Ribbon Threader
A most exquisite piece from the Victorian period, c1860s. This is a ribbon threader and is made from solid 18ct gold. It is likely a piece that might have been part of a chatelaine; a type of functional jewellery similar to a key chain, with multiple chains that have useful items at the end. The chatelaine was a demonstration of status within the household and also a sign of wealth and would sometimes be given as a wedding gift from husband to wife. This is a particularly lovely piece studded with a turquoise and rose diamond flower and would have been part of a beautiful quality chatelaine made from 18ct gold. Now, it would look wonderful worn on a long chain around the neck and is a fabulous collectors item.
