Victorian 9ct Shield & Heart Locket

sold out

A beautiful locket from the late Victorian period. The locket is made from 9ct gold to the back and the front and has metal interiors; a common construction for lockets during this period. It has a pretty heart cartouche at the centre front and the rest of the locket is covered in ivy leaves. The presence of ivy on an item of jewellery is said to represent everlasting love or friendship and this, combined with the heart, gives this piece a certain romance. The shield shape is also appealing and hints at protection. Inside, the locket has one frame that can be removed to place your own photo behind.

The locket will come on a 14kt gold fill chain similar to the one pictured. The other chain in the picture is not for sale.
