Victorian Amethyst Five Stone Ring
A beautiful ring from the mid Victorian period with full English hallmarks for Birmingham 1868. The ring is made from solid 15ct gold, fully marked, and has five beautiful purple amethysts across the top. The amethysts are the most wonderful deep purple and are slightly graduated in size. The centre stone is an old cut, whilst the others have a beautiful cushion shape with one on the end having a slightly alternative cut; it looks to be a replacement stone and the colour match is very good. This replacement stone has a chip on the surface, though this is not at all obvious when worn.
There is beautiful engraving in the shoulders of the shank and it has chased detail all the way around the edge on both sides. A beautiful quality ring in lovely condition.
