sold out

A stunning and unusual pendant from the early Victorian period, c1840s. The pendant is made from high carat gold, testing as at least 18ct, though it could be as high as 22ct, and is a beautiful rich colour. It is an elaborate and decorative design with plenty of gold detail, set with pale aquamarines. The aquas have a wonderful pale sea green colour, which was often the way in pieces of this style and age. There are also four little rubies at the corners. The stones have been checked by Wards in Hatton Garden and are confirmed as aquamarines.

The chain pictured is for display only, though it is available for sale separately.

Details:

Materials - 18ct Gold (tested, possibly 22ct), Aquamarine, Ruby

Age - C1840s

Size - The pendant measures approx 36mm long excluding the bail and is around 22.5mm wide. The central aqua is approx 8mm by 6.5mm

Condition - Very good. The aqua in the drop on the left has a little chip to the top, possibly set in this way originally as the setting is not at all damaged and it is not at all noticeable.
