Victorian Bamboo Garnet Ring

sold out

An unusual and striking ring from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The ring tests as 18ct gold and the shank is a wonderful bamboo design. The sides and shoulders of the shank exhibit the remainder of pretty, decorative engraving, which has worn over time, though maintains its charm. The bamboo design is fairly unusual for this period and I love to see it in this ring. At the top, a lovely deep red garnet is simply bezel set. The facets cast the light around the surface and there is a hint of dark and stormy about the gemstone.

Details:

Materials - 18ct Gold (tested), Garnet

Age - Late Victorian

Size - The garnet measures approx 10mm in diameter in the setting.

Ring Size - UK K ¼ US 5 ½ This ring could be resized a little, though it has been resized before and I would advise caution.

Condition - Very good. There is a tiny chip to one of the garnet facets, noted for accuracy only and not noticeable when worn. There is evidence that the ring has been resized before at the back of the shank with 9ct gold.

Weight - 5.09g
