Victorian Diamond Enamel Star Locket

A stunning locket from the Victorian period, c1870s. The locket appears as if it is 15ct gold, though it is solid 9ct gold with a thick 15ct carat gold wash over the top to give it its lovely matte golden bloom. This was a common practice during this period and you will find many pieces similar to this style that will have been treated in the same way. In this instance, it is particularly true of the front; the back has slightly lost the 15ct bloom, though it retains a beautiful shine to the gold.

The locket is a beautiful knot design with a domed centre. The dome has a turquoise enamel star and a cluster of stunning rose cut diamonds to complete the star shape. The diamonds sparkle prettily in place and the locket is a great size, making a real statement on the neck.

To the back, there is a glass covered locket that slides into place and remains secure. I have left this out a little to maintain its ease of removal. Once your own photo is in place, I would advise pushing the locket in firmly. It stays perfectly in place once this is done.

The chain pictured is for display only.
