Victorian Emerald 5 Stone Ring

A wonderful ring from the Victorian period, dated Birmingham 1869. This ring is a lovely rarity as it is made from 12ct gold. This fineness of gold was used a little in the Victorian times and was phased out in 1932 alongside 15ct gold. It is lovely to find a ring with such a crisp 12ct hallmark and these are always collectors items for this very reason. The ring is set with four bright green emeralds and an emerald paste to one end. This was likely set at the time. The emeralds are a good colour; one on the side of the centre looks to be a replacement though it is a good match in shape with a slightly paler colour. The shank has pretty openwork shoulders and is engraved with a decorative scroll pattern all the way around.

This ring is simply made with pretty decorative elements and has plenty of charm. It should be worn with care.
