Victorian Enamel Barrel Locket
A wonderful locket from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The locket has a thick 9ct gold outer that has been applied to an internal metal form, known as a back and front locket; a regular construction for lockets during this period. This is a particularly special and rare piece with turquoise enamel stripes to the back and front and the words ‘Fine Old XXXX’, also on both sides. The barrel shape is 3D and the locket has a lovely weight with stunning chased detail on either end. Barrels have come to represent abundance and the size of this makes it a beautiful statement piece.
Inside there is a frame on each side to allow you to add your own photo or momento. One frame has the original glass. The locket presses shut securely and remains shut whilst worn.
The chain pictured is for display only.
