A wonderful locket from the Victorian period. The locket is made from silver with gold gilding on the silver at the back. At the centre is a decorative gold frame with a beautiful painted cherub at the centre, white/cream on black. The picture is very striking and in incredible condition. The central painting is surrounded by a halo of seed pearls with the outline of the locket following the line of the pearls, giving it a scalloped edge. To the top is an elaborate bow decoration and a large bail meaning the locket could be worn on a chunkier chain if required. To the back, there is a little hinged door with a bevelled glass front. The whole piece is in amazing condition and looks to have hardly been worn.

The chain pictured is for display only.
