Victorian French Pearl Cross Locket with Stars

A pretty little locket from the Victorian period and French in origin. It is made from solid 18ct gold and has a little eagle head hallmark on the bail. The locket has a lovely textured pattern to the front and back, which is dotted with black enamel stars. There is some enamel loss, though the stars are still prevalent. At the centre on one side is an outlined cross design, set with natural split pearls. To the other side is a simple outlined dot, also set with a little split pearl. Inside there is a glass covered frame on a hinge that opens on a little lip, allowing you to place your own picture inside. A truly, beautifully made little treasure.

The locket will come on a 14kt gold fill chain as pictured. It will be 18” long.
