Victorian Gold FIX Drop Earrings

£0.00
sold out

A pretty pair of antique earrings from late 19th Century. The earrings are French in origin and are 9ct rolled gold. They are marked ‘FIX’, a French maker of this particular type of jewellery. This maker used a formula of sandwiching copper between two sheets of gold and continuing to do so until the desired thickness was achieved. It is much like our rolled gold jewellery and holds its colour far better than other methods of plating; in fact, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was solid gold.

These earrings are silver to the front and have little white sapphire faceted slices set into the bar and drops. Due to the little facets, there is an element of sparkle when the earrings move. The earrings have back to front fastenings meaning that you feed them into the ear from behind. They then clip into place.

Details:

Materials - Gold FIX (marked), White Sapphire

Age - Late Victorian

Size - The earrings measure 25mm from the top of the hook to the bottom of the earrings. The little disc is approx 6.2mm in diameter

Condition - Very good. Some patina commensurate with age

Weight - 1.28g the pair
