Victorian Gutta Percha Hope Pendant

sold out

A pretty and sentimental pendant from the Victorian period. The pendant is moulded from gutta percha, a natural resin from the sap of a tree in Malaysia. It is usually moulded rather than carved and you can see some moulding lines through a loupe down the side of this piece. It has been inlaid with a beautiful gold wire and mother of pearl design with the word ‘Hope’ at the centre. To the back is a moulded star design. The piece has a large-ish thick bail. For information, it does not fit through a normal dog clip clasp opening and this would be best with a chain or ribbon threaded through.

The chain pictured is for display only.
