The most amazing bracelet from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The bracelet is made from gold coloured metal and has a lovely chunky appearance. The top of the bracelet has block lettering with the word ‘Mizpah'; a Hebrew term meaning ‘may God watch over you’. Mizpah jewellery was traditionally given to a loved one to express that wherever they are, they are always loved. The block lettering is surrounded by pretty decoration, more reminiscent of Victorian design. The contrast of the plain block lettering is very striking against the more decorative background. The bracelet bears a close resemblance to a real gold one and is a wonderful example.
