Victorian Niello Roller Pendant
A lovely and unusual pendant from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The pendant has a pretty checkerboard roller that is made from niello and silver and has a gold hoop top and bail. Niello is a black compound of sulphur with silver, lead or copper to create a black alloy that contrasts beautifully with silver. This could have been a stamp roller or something of that nature and is such a lovely and rare decorative item.

Age - Late Victorian
Size - The roller measures approx. 13.5mm wide. The actual pendant, including the rivet sides, measures approx 16.5mm wide and is around 15.5mm high, excluding the bail.
Condition - Very good. A little wear commensurate with age.
