A stunning bracelet from the Victorian period, c1870s. The bracelet is a hollow construction made from silver that has been gilded to look like gold; a practice that was common during this period. The bracelet depicts a serpent eating its own tail, an ouroboros symbol. This was said to represent eternal love due to the full circle that this creates. The beauty of this example is that the clasp creates the look of a tongue. The decorative work to the head and the tail of the snake is very beautiful and classic to this period. The snake has teeth and is complete with two little red paste eyes.

Size - The bracelet is around 7mm wide. The head from the beginning of the decorative work to the nose is 35mm long. Inside diameter across widest point is 65mm/2.5”, bracelet is oval to match a wrist. It would fit a medium wrist anything from 6” - 7” depending upon how loose you like to wear your bracelets.

Condition - Good. Some wear commensurate with age with a ding here and there. The hinge is good with a minor wobble and the clasp has a tight click.
