Victorian Pavé Turquoise Earrings
A pretty pair of earrings from the Victorian period, c1880s. The earrings likely started life as buttons and have been converted, though they came to me as they are. They are made from 800 silver (marked on the back) with 9ct gold hooks. To the front, the turquoise looks to be in good condition with some colour variation as you would expect. Perhaps one stone is a replacement and could be a little chalcedony, though all the gemstones look to be antique and they could very well have been made with this little anomaly. These types of earrings are always pretty and interesting and the pavé formation gives a mild hint of forget-me-not flower to the centre.
Details:
Materials - 9ct Gold (tested), 800 Silver (marked), Turquoise
Age - Late Victorian
Size - The earrings measure approx 12mm in diameter
Condition - Very good. Please do not wear these near water.
Weight - 3.15g the pair
