Victorian Pearl Shamrock Earrings
A wonderful pair of stud earrings from the Victorian period. The earrings are made from 15ct gold with 9ct gold posts. They are pretty shamrocks, fashioned from three little flower ‘cups’, and exhibit beautiful cannetille style details in the gold. At the centre are three natural pearl beads that have been attached with jewellery wire. The pearls have a wonderful creamy lustre and are slightly baroque in shape. The gold is a lovely deep yellow and the pearls contrast perfectly.
The posts look to have been added later; perhaps the earrings had screw backs initially.
