Victorian Pique Knot Earrings
A lovely and unusual pair of earrings from the Victorian period. The earrings have been made into the shape of knots with the main body of the knot being made from tortoiseshell. The knot form is highlighted with inlayed strips of 9ct gold and the earrings are a form of pique. This type of earring is normally a drop with floral inlayed gold or silver. It is lovely to find this entirely different style making them very individual. Knots are said to represent two people entwined together and are a symbol of everlasting love. The earrings are complete with 9ct gold posts and modern 9ct butterflies.
