A wonderful locket from the Victorian period, c1890s. The locket is made from silver and is a lovely large size making it a substantial piece. It is mainly plain with the words ‘Porte Bonheur’ emblazoned across the front. The lettering is beautifully bold and you can purposely see the engraved straight lines within the letters giving the words a slight 3D feel. ‘Porte Bonheur’ translates as ‘lucky charm’ and I love that this could be your own portable lucky charm. Inside are the original frames, which can be removed to place your own photos or momentos behind. One has the original glass whilst the other side is missing this. The locket is complete with the original large bail and is good order overall.

The chain pictured is for display only.
