Victorian Rebus Seal Pendant

A wonderful and rare seal from the Victorian period. The seal has a rebus puzzle carved into the black hardstone. A rebus uses pictures and letters to spell out a message. In this example the message reads ‘I hope you are well’. The black hardstone is well worn around the edges and this lovely, rare seal has certainly seen some love in its time. The stone sits in a 9ct rose gold cased mount with a pretty spray of leaf to the top. It is very pretty and there are lovely details on the fob overall, though this has also worn over time.
