Victorian Watch Key Locket
A cute little locket from the Victorian period. The key tests as 9ct gold, though is gold cased. The bail shows a little wear where the internal metal shows through. Gold cased is a solid substantial layer of 9ct gold added to a metal inner. This lovely key is classic in style with repoussé work around the edge and a machined pattern on the circular panels at the centre. The locket is like a little secret compartment with a hinge to one side and a little fingernail grip to the other.
There is a lip inside indicating a removable frame. I have been unable to remove this, though it might be possible. Either way, the lip would allow a little photo to stay in place whether it can be removed or not.
The chain pictured is for display only.
Details:
Materials - 9ct Gold Cased
Age - Victorian
Size - The key measures 32mm long from the top of the bail to the tip of the key. It is 12.2mm wide.
Condition - Very good. The bail has a wobble as it spins on the pin fitting, though is very secure in place.
Weight - 3.72g
