Vintage 10kt Phi Beta Kappa Watch Key
A lovely vintage watch key from the oldest academic society in the United States, Phi Beta Kappa, said to ‘promote and advocate excellence in the liberal arts and sciences’. The key is made from solid 10kt gold and features the emblem of the society on one side with a hand and stars to opposing corners, and the initials PS said to represent the Philosophical Society, on the other side. This particular society began in 1776 and this key features this date along with 1830 and Brown, which is the year this chapter began at this college. This key evidently belonged to HR Barry in 1951.
I loved the shape and design of this key and it is a lovely size on a chain. The chain pictured is for display only.
