sold out

A pretty and unusual combination ring from the mid 20th Century, c1960s. The ring is made from 14kt gold and is a multi shank ring, otherwise known as a harem ring, with three separate bands that are held together by a gold fixing at the back. The ring is set with pretty opals that are fairly subtle in appearance, though they do exhibit some flashes of colour in different lights. Interspersed between the opals are dark blue sapphires. The effect is quite striking with the subtle rainbow against the dark stones.

As mentioned above, this style of ring is called a harem or puzzle ring and is an alternative style of wedding ring, notably from Turkey, where the word 'harem' is a derivative of 'haram' meaning forbidden or sacred place.
