Vintage 18ct Qu'Hier Scroll Pendant

A pretty pendant from the mid to late 20th Century. The pendant is French in origin and made from solid 18ct gold. It has been made in the shape of a scroll and has the phrase +Qu’Hier -Que Demain’ on the front meaning ‘More than yesterday and less than tomorrow’. The saying was made popular in this style of jewel by Alphonse Augis who took inspiration from a line in a 1907 poem by Rosamunde Gerard. This particular variation has a white gold ‘+’ and two little synthetic rubies set into the ‘-’. A lovely example with remnants of black enamel in the ‘que demain’.

The pendant will come on a 14kt gold fill chain similar to the one pictured.

Size - The scroll measures approx 18.5mm long excluding the bail, by 12mm wide.

Condition - Very good. Enamel in the letters has worn over time.
