Vintage Acrostic Enamel Flag Bracelet

A wonderful bracelet from the late 20th Century, dated Birmingham 1986. The bracelet is made from 9ct gold and has a set of beautiful enamel flags set along the length of the double chain. Each flag represents a letter from the signal flag tradition. In this case, the message spells ‘UNDINE’. This relates to a mythological figure that is a water nymph known as Undine. The myth states that she becomes human when she falls in love with a man, but is doomed to die if the man is unfaithful. This bracelet is likely a token of love and faithfulness following this mythological path. It is in exquisite condition and the enamel is beautiful.
