Vintage Watch Lock Pendant
A wonderful vintage pendant that doubles as a lock clasp for a bracelet or necklace. The pendant is made from solid 9ct gold, marked 375 on the side, and dates to the middle of the 20th Century, c1960s. It is a lovely little watch from Le Cheminant, a British company that was founded in the middle of the 19th Century and started life as a jewellers. By the early 20th Century, they were predominantly watchmakers and this piece appears to combine the two skills. The watch does wind and appears to keep time for around 3-4 hours, though this is being sold as a piece of jewellery rather than as a watch and the workings cannot be guaranteed.
The watch appears upside down, though this is intentional in much the same way as you will find a nurse’s watch made in the same way. It allows you to hold the watch up when on a chain and it can be read right side up.
The chain pictured is for display only.
