A wonderful bracelet from the early to middle of the 20th Century c1930s-40s. The bracelet is made from rolled gold and is marked on the underside of the head. Rolled gold is made by fusing a base metal between thin sheets of gold. The metals are heated, bonding them together and rolled into flat sheets. The quality of rolled gold tends to be much better than plating, lasting much longer, and rose in popularity during the 20s and 30s when the use of precious metal declined due to a global recession. This particular bracelet is in excellent condition and has wonderful detailing to the head and tail of the snake. The main body has a tubular, snake-like appearance and there is some movement to it allowing the bracelet to slip on the wrist with ease. Such a lovely example.
