An unusual and interesting ring with a tassie intaglio seal at the centre from the Victorian period. The intaglio has been set in a more modern gold mount, which is hallmarked for Birmingham 1979. A tassie is a glass version of a cameo or intaglio and was named after James Tassie, a Scottish engraver in the mid to late 1700s. He made this style of ring very popular and the trend continued well into the Victorian period. This is a wonderful example with multiple faces carved into the glass that has a deep burnt amber colour. The gold mount is very in keeping with the style and the tassie has been set expertly.
